| 説明 | 昨今の少子化問題の深刻化により、日本政府は秘密裏に体外受精の研究機関に多額の予算を割いている。その結果、研究所は人口子宮に成功。冷凍保存されていた精子と卵子は交配され、人口子宮によって新時代の子どもたちが次々に産声を上げた。2020年末。日本政府はその事実を発表。当然、大きな批判も起こったが、反対に面白半分で賛同する者も多かった。母体を必要としない彼らは、冷凍保存されていた赤ちゃんというところから、「コールドベイビー」と呼ばれた。 2021年現在、コールドベイビーは約100名誕生している。彼らは養子として家族を持つ者もいたが、政府管轄の施設によって生活していく者も多かった。舞台は、2040年。コールドベイビーも一つの選択肢として受け入れられている世の中。コールドベイビーの第一世代である者たちは成人を迎えた。問題なく社会で生活をする一方で、家庭で育った者と施設で育った者の感覚には大きな隔たりがある。愛とは。家族とは。子どもとは。人とは。誰も知るはずもない愛の形を彼らは探す。 |
