説明 STEPでは昨年からハンセン病をテーマにした演劇作品の創作を思案していました。そこで出会ったのが劇団桃唄309の長谷さんの戯曲『あいまい宝島』でした。この作品は香川県高松市にあるハンセン病の隔離施設である大島青松園をモデルに描かれた作品です。当時この島に連れてこられた人たちは、何を思い、何を考えたのでしょうか。作中ではハンセン病という言葉は出てきませんが、島の療養所で過ごすことになった人たちの日常が垣間見える作品です。
コロナウイルスという100年に1度の疫病と闘う我々が、何か大切なものを思い出すきっかけを思い出すきっかけになれば幸いです。
