Sour Grapesとはイソップ寓話「すっぱいぶどう」から来た慣用句です。
ぶどうを取ろうとしたけど手が届かなかったキツネが「あのぶどうはきっとすっぱいよ」と負け惜しみを言って去って行った―という話です。
つまりは「負け惜しみ」という意味ですが、キツネの気持ち、僕はよくわかります。

説明 Sour Grapesとはイソップ寓話「すっぱいぶどう」から来た慣用句です。
ぶどうを取ろうとしたけど手が届かなかったキツネが「あのぶどうはきっとすっぱいよ」と負け惜しみを言って去って行った―という話です。
つまりは「負け惜しみ」という意味ですが、キツネの気持ち、僕はよくわかります。

人生というのは叶わないことの方が多い。
本当は欲しいのに手に入らなかったものなんて、数多くあります。地位や名誉、お金、才能、そして大好きだったあの子……

そんな時「あのぶどうはきっとすっぱいよ」とつぶやいてきました。
そうして心の安定をはかってきたのです。

さすがに大人になった今は
「おいおい、ちょっと待てよ。キツネになんてなるなよ。そんなことする方がみじめだぞ」
と客観視できるようになってきましたが、それでも一生つきまとうかもしれないこのキツネとうまく付き合っていかないとな、と思っています。

というわけで「すっぱいぶどう」に囚われた人たちのお話です。
本当は欲しくてしょうがないのに負け惜しみを言うしかない人たちを笑ってやって下さい。
もしかしたら、あなたの中にもキツネがいるかもしれませんけど。
