| 説明 | 朗読ユニットDueと演劇ユニットCRATEREの共催公演を行います 今回はある青年画家とその父親の物語です 前回と同様に「朗読のための小説」を執筆し、コンセプトを『脳内映画館で再生する物語』として、ただの文章の朗読でなく、詩的であり、台本的であり、小説であるものを50分かけてお客様の脳内で映画のように再生する事を目的とし、構成、演出しています パンフレットには全文を掲載して販売しますが 一部を公開しますので、ぜひご覧になってご予約頂けますと幸いです ＊＊＊＊＊ 18 空はどこまでも続いているように思えた。幼なかった僕にとって初めて見る異国の空は自分の生まれた日本の空よりも、ずっと碧く、高く見えた。ヴァルトブルク城はテューリンゲン伯が狩りの途中、その森と山の美しさに惚れて「待て、山よ、汝我が城となれ」と叫んだことが語源と言われるほどに美しい森と、それに連なる山上に屹立する漆黒の城である。僕は、空の青さ、黒い城、深い緑の森と山、そしてそこへ向かうゲーテ街道に立つ父の広い背中を見ていた。父はお気に入りの千鳥格子のハンチングをかぶり、茶色のジャケットと同じ色のコーデュロイのパンツを履いていた。決して背が高い方ではなかったが僕はいつも父を大きく感じた。 「朔也」 舞台俳優の父の声はどんなに広い平地でも、雑踏の中でも、騒がしいハンバーガーショップの店内でも必ず聞き取れるような美しいバリトンだった。 「朔也、見えるか？あれがヴァルトブルク城だ」 僕は父の隣に立って、その厳めしい手を握り城を見上げた。 「朔也、綺麗だろう？」 父の白髪混じりの髭と、左目の端に映るヴァルトブルク城を何とか忘れまいと思った。父の手をしっかりと握って僕は頷いた。 父と旅をしたのはフランクフルトからライプツィヒまで、そしてこのヴァルトブルク城を見たのが最初で最後だった。父は年間を通して不定期に多忙だった。シェイクスピアからチェーホフ劇まで、有名な舞台には必ず呼ばれるような役者だったからだ。僕は父を誇りに思っていた。ポスターに、雑誌に父がいるのを認めるたびに父を自慢に思った。いつも家を空けていて、祖母と二人で暮らす時間の寂しさよりも、舞台にむかう時、まるで旅に出るみたいに家を出る父を見るのが好きだった。時間を忘れたように手を繋いだままでヴァルトブルク城を眺めていた。 父は時々、僕を振り返った。何度目かに僕を見た時、こういった。大人になったら何になるんだ？と。僕は真剣に考えた。そして、絵描きさん、と答えた。父は、どうして？と訊いた。僕はしばらく考えて、今日見た、このお城と空を描く、と答えた。父は大きな声で笑った。きれいな景色だもんな、朔也と二人で見たかった景色だ。父はそう言って僕の手を強く握った。少し痛かったけれど、それよりも嬉しかった。父は僕の手を引いて城の方へと歩いた。 父が亡くなったのは、僕が高校三年の秋だった。授業中に担任の先生が真っ青な顔で教室に来て、南雲君、すぐに帰る支度をしなさい、といった。父はリハーサル中に舞台から転落してそのままなくなったというのだ。その日の朝も父はいつものように軽装で、いつものように緊張と充実を顔に滲ませて、行ってきますと言った。おかしな様子はなかった、疲れてもいなかった。でも、舞台から転落して絶命した。 父の葬儀にたくさんの役者たちが来た、みんな泣いていた。僕にお悔やみを言った。僕は父の舞台を一度しか見たことがなかった。マクベスだった。難しかった。誰かが父の遺影に話しかけた。誰かが有名な台詞を父の棺にむかって話した、誰かが有名な曲を歌った、でも父は棺から出てはこなかった。命のないほとんどすべての者と同じように木箱の中で表情一つ変えず父は眠っているようだった。父が骨と灰だけになっても僕は涙が出なかった。家にいると、鍵の開く音がしてあの表情で帰ってくる気がした。 僕は大学へ行くのを諦めて独学で絵を描き続けた。売れるわけなんかなかった。売る方法だってわからなかった。役者だった父のおかげで、名前を知ってくれる人はいたけれど絵は売れなかった。僕は古い親戚を頼って尾瀬の山小屋に住んだ。アトリエ代わりに使って、自給自足の生活をした。 二年が経った頃だった、病魔に侵された。癌だったんじゃないかと思う。熱はずっと高いままで、腰痛は日増しにひどくなった。僕は、父と行ったあの、ヴァルトブルク城を思い出した。そしていま、サインを書き込んで僕は眠りについた、永遠に、もう戻ることのない、もう醒めることのない暗闇の中に身を置いた。悔いはなかった。僕は父さんに会いに行くのだ。あの手に、声に、もう一度会いたかった、ずっと会いたかった。 ＊＊＊＊＊ これは、全体の一部「18」のみを公開しています 是非とも本番を「声」でお楽しみください |
